When is ‘good enough’… good enough?

I was reminded again this week of how debilitating the desire for perfect results can be in terms of stopping us taking action.

“A good plan executed, is far better than a perfect plan carried out next week” – General Patton

Yet that same desire for perfection is also what motivates us to do better, to improve on last time.

It’s a valuable driver… until it tips us over into paralysis.

The real challenge is knowing when to throw the switch from preparation to action.

Too early, and results may be poor. Too late, and you waste time polishing what didn’t need polishing.

Learn to recognise your own pattern, and the patterns of those around you.

This week, notice the moment you’re tempted to wait for ‘perfect’.

What happens if you choose to act instead?

My best wishes, Paul
