Was it so hard?

Most of us have hard and difficult things that loom on our horizon – and they look scary.

Have you ever noticed that the hard and difficult stuff only ever seemed hard and difficult before you began it?

Think back to things you thought would be hard and difficult.

Were they as tough as you imagined they would be?

Most people say ‘no’.

Or did you never start them because of fear?

Fear of failure? Fear of not being enough? Fear of letting others down? Fear of…?

The key here is the word ‘imagine’.

Think about something on your horizon now.

Do you roll it around in your mind over and over and over and over again?

As you do that, do you imagine it turning out well, or badly?

Which do you think would serve you better?

And, of course, the real test is to just start and notice what happens and how you feel about it.

I have always been amazed at how the world seems to conspire on our behalf when we commit to doing something.

My best wishes, Paul
