The power you have

sunset over water with ripples and rocks

As a human, you have great power.

By that I mean, the quality of the lives of the people you interact with directly or indirectly will be affected by your words and deeds.

“Life I touch for good or ill will touch another life, and in turn another, until who knows where the trembling stops or in what far place my touch will be felt.” Frederick Buechner.

Using your power has consequences beyond what you can see, beyond the here and now.

The ripples will reverberate through time and space, so make them ‘nice’ ripples.

Use your power with care – and caring.

Let empathy be your guide.

Think about something you did today, even just smiling at someone, or ignoring them.

What might the ripples be? Know that you will never think of them all, especially those that manifest in the future.

And how might ripples you create be reinforced, or affected, by ripples that others create?

My best wishes, Paul

PS And of course, notice how you get affected by ripples from the way others use their power. Did the person on the checkout smile at you today because others before you smiled at them?
