A competitive advantage

Two childrens' hands pinky promise

I grew up in a family where keeping promises was, well, normal. So it was a bit of a shock to me when I began to work in the ‘real world’ and realised that showing up on time and doing what you say you would do was a competitive advantage.

Think about the people you interact with regularly.
Who is ‘reliable’?
Who do you trust to deliver?
Who is a ‘safe pair of hands’?
Who do you prefer to work with, collaborate with, and help?

Now think about how they would view you.

Flaky, inconsistent, often late; or a safe pair of hands?

“It is an immutable law in business that words are words, explanations are explanations, promises are promises but only performance is reality.” Harold S Geneen

What about your promises to yourself?
Here are a few tips to help you meet the objectives you have promised yourself.

My best wishes, Paul
