Frustration to fascination

frustrated woman sitting at laptop with head in hands

Frustration is an occupational hazard these days. With everything so busy, anything that holds you up or does not quite go as planned can be a source of frustration.

Meetings, colleagues, procedures, rules, traffic; what is your favourite?

But if you take a step back, you can see that it is an attitude thing. The event out there that you find frustrating is just an event. It is how you are reacting to it that is winding you up.

If you feel frustration rising, detach yourself from the moment and imagine looking at the scene from another vantage point, perhaps that of a fly on the wall.

As you look at yourself down there in that situation, what do you notice?

By the way, if you can still feel frustration, fly a bit higher and get a wider view to fully detach from the moment. A truly detached fly on the wall observer cannot feel frustration 🙂

From that vantage point, what can you learn about yourself, and about others you are interacting with?

How could you handle things differently next time?

And here is a surprising question…

What are you grateful for in the current situation?

My best wishes, Paul
